The Faribault Commercial Historic District, first placed in the National Register in 1982, has undergone a major expansion, now incorporating more than 100 properties. The original district spanned only the 200 block of Central Avenue and focused completely on nineteenth century buildings. The expanded district recognizes the changes that took place between 1900 and 1970 and includes such outstanding properties as the Paramount Theatre, the Ochs Block, and the Faribault Hotel.
San Francisco Township Hall, the former District #22 school, has been officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is the only public school in Carver County, Minnesota, to receive this recognition.
